    GREAT NEWS From The Kitchen....

    DON'T FORGET TOMORROW AUGUST 4, 2020 TUESDAY OUR GENEROUSLY PACKED MEALS ARE BACK AND SAME TIME EVERY WEEK! PLEASE COME OUT AND TAKE ADVANTAGE OF OUR MEAL DISTRIBUTIONS ON TUESDAYS AND FRIDAYS! WITH YOUR PARTICIPATION WE WILL BE ABLE TO CONTINUE THE MEALS AT NO CHARGE TO YOU!

    WE CAN NOT CONTROL THE AVAILABILITY OF THE FARMERS BOX AND THEY MAY VARY IN SIZE, ITEMS AND QUANTITY. ON WEDNESDAYS (FARMER BOX DAY), OUR BUSES MAY LEAVE A SITE EARLY, ONLY IF ALL OF THE BOXES HAVE BEEN DISTRIBUTED, DUE TO DIFFERENT FACTORS LIKE... HIGH TEMPERATURES, SHORT STAFFED AND ORDERS BEING DELIVERED BACK AT THE SCHOOL ARE JUST A FEW EXAMPLES.

    MEAL SERVICE WILL CONTINUE ALL SUMMER LONG FOR GRASS LAKE SCHOOL DISTRICT MEAL DISTRIBUTION TWO DAYS A WEEK AND FARMERS BOXES WITH (NO MEALS) ON WEDNESDAYS AS THEY
    CONTINUE TO BE AVAILABLE.

    TUESDAYS: RECEIVE MEALS FOR TUESDAY THROUGH THURSDAY
    FRIDAYS: RECEIVE MEALS FOR FRIDAY THROUGH MONDAY
    MOST WEDNESDAYS WE WILL DO A FARMERS BOX ONLY DISTRIBUTION (NO MEALS) AND ON SOME FRIDAYS WE WILL HAVE A SPECIAL FARMERS BOX (WITH MEALS) THAT WILL INCLUDE MEATS!

    WE WILL CONTINUE TO KEEP YOU UPDATED EACH WEEK BY EMAIL, GRASS LAKE SCHOOLS WEBSITE AND FACEBOOK.

    Meals are free, no requirement to be a student of Grass Lake Community Schools. Any individual can pick up the food.
    Meals are intended to be taken home for consumption as there will no areas available to eat at distribution sites.

    Free meals will be made available to children 18 years of age and under or persons up to age 26 who are enrolled in an educational program for the mentally or physically disabled that is recognized by a State or local public educational agency.

    Meals will be delivered to designated locations by Grass Lake Community Schools buses and will be distributed by Grass Lake Community Schools staff members.

    FOOD PREPARATION GUIDELINES

    With the variety of food we are delivering to our four locations, please follow these guidelines toward proper preparations:

    BASIC PREPARATION GRILLED CHEESE SANDWICHES
    Do not remove wrap before heating. From thawed stage: Preheat convection oven to 325 F, place onto a bun pan and heat for 10-12 minutes. Serve. From frozen: Preheat convection oven to 275 F, place sandwiches onto bun pan and heat 12-15 minutes. Serve.
    Note: Sandwiches can be heated from a frozen state; however, it is recommended that are heated from a thawed state.

    TWIN CHEESEBURGERS
    For best results, heat from thawed state, thaw frozen hamburgers in refrigerator. From thawed state heat sealed/wrapped sandwiches in a preheated 275 ‘F conventional oven for 20-25 minutes. Do not heat above 275’F

    BREAKFAST PIZZA SLIDERS
    Basic Preparation COOK BEFORE SERVING. CONVENTIONAL OVEN: PREHEAT TO 350 DEGREES F. BAKE FOR 11-14 MINUTES.

    PANCAKE WRAPS
    Basic Preparation Heat from frozen state. Conventional Oven: 350 degrees F: 20-22 minutes. Internal temperature should reach 160 degrees F. From thawed is not recommended. Product will be hot. Times and temperatures may vary based on equipment and quantity prepared. Adjust as needed.

    ENGLISH MUFFIN, EGG AND CHEESE, Whole Grain, 3.3 Ounce, Cooked,
    Basic Preparation From thawed state in a conventional oven at 275 degrees F for 11-13 minutes.

    GLUTEN FREE PIZZA POCKETS
    Basic Preparation- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Bake for 10-12 minutes until internal temperature reaches 165 degrees F.

    CALZONES
    Spray the tray or use a pan liner, Cook for 12-15 minutes in a 350’F conventional oven. Cook to an internal temperature of 165’F as measured by a food thermometer. Product will be hot, let stand for 2 minutes.

    MAC AND CHEESE/PASTA
    heat and serve! best if thawed.
